Our Engagement Strategy: US, UK, EU, and UN

AI governance decisions made in the next three years will shape technology policy for decades to come. At The ReformAItion Institute, we're strategically positioning ourselves to influence policymakers in four critical jurisdictions: the United States, United Kingdom, European Union, and United Nations.

This isn't aspirational—it's a concrete roadmap with specific milestones, entry points, and policy windows that align with our Double Edged AI Study (2026-2028).

Why These Four Jurisdictions?

United States: Home to leading AI companies and the world's largest technology market. US policy decisions ripple globally and set de facto international standards.

United Kingdom: Post-Brexit, the UK is positioning itself as a global AI leader through its AI Safety Institute. British policy influences Commonwealth nations and serves as a bridge between US and EU approaches.

European Union: The EU AI Act represents the world's first comprehensive AI regulation. Its implementation (2026-2028) offers critical opportunities to shape governance frameworks.

United Nations: UN discussions on AI governance will influence international norms, particularly affecting developing nations most vulnerable to AI exploitation.

Together, these four spheres of influence reach nearly every nation on earth.

Engagement Tactics: How We Build Influence

Congressional/Parliamentary Briefings

Format: 45-60 minute sessions with legislative staff, occasionally members Content: Accessible presentations on complex AI ethics issues Follow-up: Written materials, ongoing availability for questions Frequency: Quarterly with key offices, ad hoc as legislation moves

Policy Briefs and White Papers

Audience: Policymakers, not academics (though academically rigorous) Style: Executive summary + detailed analysis + specific recommendations Distribution: Direct to legislative offices, public release, media outreach Impact: Cited in legislative debates, hearings, and committee reports

Coalition Partnerships

Strategy: Unite faith voices across theological traditions Power: Faith communities represent massive constituencies politicians respect Approach: Focus on shared values (human dignity, justice) rather than theological differences

Media Presence

Vehicles: Op-eds, interviews, podcast appearances, conference keynotes Outlets: Washington Post, Financial Times, Atlantic, Christianity Today, Premier Christian Radio Purpose: Shape public discourse, reach policymakers through trusted news sources Frequency: Monthly high-profile placements

Academic Credibility

Foundation: Double Edged AI Study provides research legitimacy Partnerships: Collaborate with universities, think tanks, research institutions Publications: Peer-reviewed journals alongside policy briefs Impact: Policymakers take seriously those who publish rigorous research

Why This Approach Will Succeed

1. Timing: Policy Windows Are Open NOW

  • US: 2026 midterm elections create urgency for AI legislation
  • UK: AI Safety Institute expanding scope and seeking input
  • EU: AI Act implementation requires detailed technical standards (2026-2028)
  • UN: Active discussions on international AI governance frameworks

These windows won't stay open forever. We're entering at the optimal moment.

2. Unique Value Proposition

We offer something no other organization provides:

  • Theological depth grounded in mainstream evangelical ethics
  • Technical expertise understanding AI capabilities and limitations
  • Policy fluency speaking policymakers' language
  • Bipartisan appeal emphasizing human dignity over partisan divides
  • Global perspective engaging across US, UK, EU, and UN

3. Existing Relationships and Credibility

We're not starting from zero:

  • Established partner organizations (Gloo, Right Now Media, Church of England)
  • Media relationships and publication track record
  • Access to policy networks through existing connections
  • Faith community's inherent political influence

4. Evidence-Based Advocacy

The Double Edged AI Study provides:

  • Empirical foundation for policy recommendations
  • Academic credibility
  • Rigorously researched positions (not just theological assertions)
  • Case studies and real-world examples

Policymakers take research-backed advocacy more seriously than philosophical arguments alone.
